Short bio
Sasha (Oleksandr) Poberailo is a Ukrainian filmmaker, producer and film director, and a researcher of interactive cinema, based in Kharkiv. He has made independent features, shorts and web series since 2008, develops the FMV-01 prototype and the FMV Builder authoring tool, and publishes peer-reviewed articles on interactive narrative. Doctor of Arts.
Long bio
Sasha (Oleksandr) Poberailo was born on 9 January 1984 and is based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Since 2008 he has made independent features, shorts and web series — thirteen credits as director, producer, writer, cinematographer or editor, including the debut feature Yoshlochka (2010), the grindhouse feature Terrible Brilliant (2017) and the web series Dirty Russian (2015). In 2010 he organised BOMMER-FEST, the first international film festival at Kharkiv’s historic Bommerъ cinema, and in 2011 he founded the Bommer Brothers Film Club there. He holds a Doctor of Arts degree, awarded 21 August 2026 by the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture for the creative artistic project “Creative Tools of Audiovisual Interactive Storytelling” (specialty 021, Audiovisual Art and Production), and teaches at the academy’s Department of Photo Art and Cinematography. His research covers the history, typology and analysis models of interactive cinema. He develops the FMV-01 prototype and the FMV Builder authoring tool and publishes peer-reviewed articles on interactive narrative.
