Enter the system
Interactive films and FMV experiments — works you enter, not only watch. Playable builds appear here when ready; some titles are still on the bench.
Interactive here means works built as systems: you press, choose, look around — and the sequence answers. My interactive practice grows out of the same independent production as the filmography: small crew, Kharkiv locations, do-it-yourself pipelines. The design work just starts earlier — in narrative graphs and choice architecture rather than only on set.
FMV-01 is a hybrid interactive FMV prototype in Unity: video cutscenes, still frames with hotspot choices, and a hire-or-walk fork, in a cyberpunk-noir setting. FMV Builder is the authoring tool that grew out of that production — a studio for interactive films and visual novels with a branching editor, FMV mechanics (QTE, hold, explore, items, dialogue trees), a timeline, and export to a web build or an offline Electron package.
Both projects are in active development: playable builds appear on this page when they are ready. Until then, the pages below document the current mechanics, the stack, and the state of each build — the same material I use in research on interactive narrative. New to the format? [What Is an FMV Game](/research/what-is-an-fmv-game) is my dedicated guide with history and current examples. Choosing an authoring tool? I compare six of them in [Interactive Film Tools](/interactive/interactive-film-tools). Tracking the genre itself? My quarterly [FMV games of 2026 roundup](/research/interactive-cinema-fmv-games-2026) lists every release with a source and a date.
