Two hikikomori decide to meet in real life and begin a new life — something goes wrong.
New Life (Новая жизнь) is Poberailo’s early finished short (2009), one of the first completed fiction pieces of the practice. Black-and-white, almost entirely one location — a brick-arched café where two young men finally sit face to face. One arrives first among empty tables and coffee cups; the other joins; they talk over a growing ring of white cups and an ashtray. English burned-in subs capture the deadpan confession rhythm (“I decided to put an end to this psychopathy,” “I became fearless too,” “Me too!”). The film is dialogue- and pause-driven: Jarmusch-adjacent tempo named by the author (tags include «Джармуш», coffee & cigarettes, hikikomori, Kharkiv).
